December 12 2011

December 12 2011, Robert Lake died in his home in Lake Havasu City, AZ. My great-grandfather was 84 and lived a good and long life life. As he is up in heaven, he watches his wife and his 2 daughters prepare for the funeral, along with his 2 wonderful granddaughters and grandson. He had many hobbies including fishing, shooting, and mini airplane making. He lived with his wife Clara and his dog Jo Jo. His caring daughter has been looking after him for the past 10 years. I will always remember you Grandpa. XOXO

Today is the big day

The holiday show is tonight at 7:30. I'm so nervous. Yesterday was the full dress rehearsal with hair and make-up, and I landed only one out of three Axels. I was so nervous that I fell on my crossovers going into my Axel . Then the other Axel girls got so close that I didn't want to jump on anybody. Wish me Luck !!

I'm Back!!!

Hi. Sorry I haven't written in forever! My Axel in finally consistent and I'm  almost landing my double Salchow. No more harness for me. (except for all of the rest of my doubles. Ugh). Today is the dress rehearsal for the holiday show. I have 3 Axel parts, and hope I land them. I can't believe it is already December. I have a pre-preliminary test in January. I hope I pass! And now your pretty much up to-date, and I am going to Disneyland on Monday. Hooray!! I'm really excited!!

How's school? Well, its getting harder now that I'm in ninth grade. Biology is a pain 'cause of all of the vocabulary words. Math is math with lots of equations and Cartesian coordinates.  Yesterday, I had homeschooling classes and in one of my classes, I made 3 beautiful flower magnets. I would put pictures up but I don't know how. Sorry.

Labor Day Weekend

Happy Labor Day weekend!!   Hope all is well!  On Tuesday, my mom and I went down to Anaheim, which is where Disneyland is, so I can get fitted for some new skates. We went into the shop, they measured me, and said since they don't have any skates in my size in stock, they are going to have to order them. It may take from 5 days to 5 weeks for the shop to get them in, but I hope that it is only 5 days. While we were in Anaheim we checked out the rink, which was only across the street! It is where the 'Ducks' hockey team train! And I was finally able to see pair skaters! It was amazing! They were even doing some really crazy lift where the male skates backwards with his arms not touching his partner and the girl is upside down grabbing on to his bottom half!! If any one knows what that is called, please let me know cause it was spectacular. At my rink, there are never any pair skaters, ever. So that was really neat.
My coach recently taught me something new that I have been wanting to learn, a flying sit spin. A flying sit spin is were just as you are about to start your sit spin but you jump into the air in your sit spin position and when you land you start spinning.     I start school on Tuesday, or should I say I 'officially' start school on Tuesday. Since I'm home schooled, I kind of work on and off throughout the whole Summer. I know that probably sounds like torture to some of you, but I like it 'cause then I get a head start on everything. Happy Labor Day!!!!!!!

Tuesday, August 30, 2011

Hello!! I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend. I had my Private freestyle lesson with my coach and she gave me some bad news: I'm not allowed to attempt any Axels or Double Salcows until I get some new skates. :(  I'm not exactly thrilled about that, but I'm planning to go down to Anaheim for a fitting sometime this week. I have been going through some songs for my next competition and I have found some really neat songs such as: I believe in fairies-peter pan; overture-the little mermaid; and overture-singing in the rain.
My mom, my brother and I have signed up for the Disneyland fun run. It is a 5k through Disneyland park, and I am very excited!!  You run at 10:30 at night on Jan. 27 2012 and they have the characters for people to take pictures with, as well as bands playing music. I am so excited, I mean, How often do somebody get the chance to run through Disneyland?!!  Anyhow I'm looking very forward to it.
My mom made the best blueberry cake/bread today!! It was so delicious!! It was her own recipe! I also just ate a homegrown Watermelon from our garden and It has never tasted so good. I now know what a true watermelon tastes like.

The competition

My first competition was on Saturday and Sunday. Compulsory on Saturday, and artistic and technical on Sunday. I was very nervous for my technical program, I was afraid of messing up on my step sequence, or wobbling on the landing of my half loop, or not holding my sit spin long enough, or being shaky on my right back-outside spiral. As you can see I had a lot of pressure for that program. But I was much more relaxed with my artistic solo. But I got 1st place in compulsory 1st place in artistic and 2nd place in my freestyle 4 technical program. It might sound funny, but I'm prouder of my 2nd place than I am of my other first places, cause I competed with two girls that 6 months ago, I would never even dreamed of competeing with them. My aunt (the 'allthingsyummy) gave my beautiful pink roses that she handed to me after my artistic program. They are the best pink rose smelling roses that I had ever smelled.

My 13 year old cousin helped out at the competition with me, she was the ice captain (she made sure that everybody was where they were supposed to be), and I helped out with the interpretive events and whatnot. Then my 15 year old cousin was the announcer, so that was very funny to hear his voice echo from all sides of the rink.

So now I can finally move on to more challenging things like the double Salcow that I have landed 3 times.  Tomorrow is my lesson, and I am very excited, so I can finally move on with my skating journey.

The Preformance

Hello al!! This week has been very hectic, My aunt came from Sacramento is in-town visiting, and last night, I had my first performance.  It was at around six and I preformed both of my songs. (Singing in the Rain and Leaving Paris) I was more nervous then I had ever been in my life. I was nervous because I didn't want to fall or forget something. Thankfully my coach was there to help me through it, so that helped a lot, but I was still nervous. She helped me by stretching my spirals, and helping me to take deep breaths.  My family came to watch along with my 2 aunts and uncle.  I was the 5th and 9th skater to skate. Leaving Paris was first, then Singing In The Rain. Once I got out onto the ice and began to feel SO much better. I didn't forget or fall in either of my songs, but I did mess up on my loop on the first one. I don't even remember skating, I only remember a few parts, It is so weird. But I am extremely proud of my self!!

The Beach

Today I went to the beach.  It was beautiful there. Even the water was not as cold as usual, it was very beautiful and blue. I boogie boarded and body surfed with my brothers. One of them was too cold to play long, so he just played in the sand dunes. But the other one played in the waves with me most of the time. Also, as I was playing in the surf, a seal swam by with a few of his friends, and I was able to be around 2 yards from it more or less!!  Dolphins also swam by as well, but they were too far out to touch them. For snack at the beach, I had a tuna sandwich,a favorite of mine. I found my first silver dollar which was way cool!  There were lots of really cool shells today.

Hello again.

Sorry I haven't blogged in a while. I have been sick with the flu but not anymore. So now my 'Leaving Paris' routine is finally looking great. My spirals and my Axels are doing wonderful. And I am now able to land my Axel on command(almost). On Saturday, my dad came to my lesson to watch me skate, and he was especially proud when I landed a PERFECT Axel. I spent the 4th July at my neighbors house swimming in their pool.(It was in the high 80s) So it was a little warm for us, we had a cold and rainy winter and spring. Tomorrow I we are planning to go to the beach. I am also in a play in my friends backyard about a Pharaoh in Egypt. As you can see my summer is fun packed and I hope yours is too!

The weekend

I had a lesson with my coach on Saturday, and we worked on my freestyle 4 step-sequence and my routine from 'Singing in the Rain.'  The step sequence wasreally hard.  Feet moving this way and that way.  We also worked on my favorite, the Axel. I landed another one all by myself! I am very proud of myself, and last night, I went to the rink for my favorite ice skating day, Sunday night skating. Its when all of my practicing from the past week pays off. So now I dance/skate just for fun.  No practicing. I really enjoy it. And I also landed even more Axels. They are just so fun and spectacular.
It was beautiful Summer day today. I went swimming with my older brother and my younger brother in my neighbors pool. Since I'm home schooled, I do school all year long. And when I want to take a break, I am able to. So today I did my Biology and Algebra 1.  And of course I went on my walk and did other things like play with my American girl dolls, Brittney, Samantha, Nikki, and Hadassah. They are like sisters to me since I don't have any. Later!!

The water park

68-76 degrees.
On Wednesday, I went swimming at a nearby aquatic center, You might be thinking why I didn't go to the beach. Well, the beaches here in CA are not warm, there are FREEZING cold. Anyway, I didn't go ice skating, it was one of my days off. At the aquatic center there are two large water slides that you could go down, one of them was a tube, the other was an open one. My cousin also went. She is the same age as me.

And Today, I went skating at around 1:30ish. You wouldn't believe it but I landed my Axel. I am so proud of myself! And I hardly even practiced it!I also competed with my cousin at 'shot the duck'.(a sit-spin exercise were you skate in a sitting position with your leg out in front you). And earlier, I went on a run with my mom's friends dog, Shady, a German Shepard. By the way, Shady doesn't let you walk, only run, so I hardly get a chance to catch my breath. But it's great exercise.

The first day of summer

Today, it is 72 degrees where I live and the first day of summer.  It was cold and very gloomy when I went ice skating the morning with my cousin, Quinn. But now it is a cheerful 72 degrees.  I must say the vibe in the rink was not very joyful, so unfortunately, I was not very joyful as well. The vibe was probably caused by some other girls on the rink who didn't look like they were having a nice time. I even started crying!! Sometimes when there are girls who are doing so well with their routines, yours seems small and flimsy. compared to yours. I worked on my other routine called 'Leaving Paris'. It is from the movie 'Julie and Julia'. Today my jumps were not as high as usual, (probably due to the energy in the rink). In my song, I have a 10-20sec. long break where I have no idea what to do. I am trying to do footwork but it is a little hard doing that when you have only been skating for six months.( Yet I am a jumping Queen). I also worked on the dreaded sit-spin. :-(    Once I came home, I had a healthy lunch of sliced and diced potatoes. And later I am going to work on my spirals off the ice, and find some fancy footwork.   Later!  :-)

And later,

I just got back from the rink, and I had the time of my life!!! I worked on my double salchow and my double flip. I am so close. My sit-spin is also improving. I must say, it is very fun to spin in the spot where most of the light shines almost like you are performing!( even though I never have).  Tomorrow  is Monday, another day of school and fun.  My mom used to pull the ole' while everybody is in school you are skating on a practically empty rink!'  but now she can't since its summer!!!!  I also realized something cool, if you dance when you are skating, you get just as much practicing in as you would otherwise only it's much more fun. Just a quick note: I think my daddy is the MOST best dad in the world! And I mean the world!

My first blog

Hello all girls from around the world!!!!!  I am an 12 year old ice skater from southern California.  I have my mother's eyes and hair, and my daddy's heart and height.  I am 'all things yummy' (blog) adorable niece that she is always raving about!!!!! LOL

Yesterday, me and my awesome mommy, went to the rink for a private lesson with my coach. We are choreographing a routine from 'Singing in the rain'.  I haven't been skating for an entire year yet, but I have landed all of my singles ( Flip, Lutz, Loop, Salchow, toe loop, etc) everything except my axel.  I am currently working on my double flip and salchow.
I also made cupcakes with my 'all things yummy' aunt. 'All things yummy' is the name of her blog.  She is always talking about food she makes.  Anyway, back to the cupcakes...They were so yummy.  The frosting was the best.  Chocolate and homemade.  We decorated with chocolate chips and sprinkles.  They were for my dad for Father's day but I ended up eating a few.

My mom home-schools my two brothers and me. In public school I would be in 7th grade but I am currently working on Biology and Algebra one. My history is undecided at the moment, but I am taking high school writing as well.

I live an hour, more or less, from LA and Malibu.

A regular summer day would be:
6:30- I wake up and go on a 1/2 hour walk with my cocker spaniel/golden retriever mix dog named Lilly.
7:00- I get back from my walk, take a shower, and have coconut oil with cinnamon on toast.
8:15- my cousins come over to be watched by my mom. They have been coming over since my 15 year old cousin was born. They are the same age as my brother I just mentioned, and me. On Tuesdays I take one of my cousins ice skating with me to a nearby rink.
11:15- done skating, come back home have lunch.  Usually salad with lots of dressing.( by then I have skated off all of my breakfast so now I'm starving.)
Somewhere in the afternoon I usually go for a 30 run.  My mom's friend up the street has a german sheperd I like to take with me.
3:00 PM- my cousins leave.
3:15- I start my school and finish at around 5:00 or 6:00 (I do some school in the summer too).
somewhere in between there I eat dinner, my favorite is teriaki chicken and rice with extra onions and garlic.
by 8:30 I am in bed and ready to sleep.
