The scholarship

I know its been forever since I have blogged so here's an update: my tendonitis has gotten much worse so i'm now going to physical therapy; i'm not allowed to do any excersise on my feet running walking etc. except skating. Thank goodness cause I have another test in 2 weeks. Yikes! School is getting much harder and history is getting more and more boring.
I am skating in my rinks Christmas show in about a month so thats something to look forward to.  The amazing thing about this is that I got a scholarship to be in the show. Last year, it cost about $300.00 for me to be in it. I couldn't be in it this year cause no way can my parents afford it. Or as my mom likes to say ' we don't want to afford it'. So I wasn't going to be in it. Untill my coach came to the rescue and said that she talked to person in charge and was able to get me into 2 group rountines and all I had to do was help out with the hockey boys number and pay $30.00! Yes I know the boys can  be really unruly but its worth it and sometimes kinda fun.

Short post.

I know, I'm sorry. I haven't blogged in like a week.
I have family in town so I get to see my new 5 month old baby cousin. She's is so adorable!!! They will be here through the weekend but they're leaving tomorrow.
My tendonitis is finally getting better!! It has been taking a lot of physical therapy but its getting much better.
My competition is on the 29th and I have an exhibition on Saturday and next Wed. on my B-day! I will be turning 14. I'm really looking forward to it, but the competition in what is practically occupying my mind. I'm really nervous. My stomach flip flops and churn whenever I think about it. I just really don't want to fall. I know this post is short, but there's nothing exciting going on in my life. Sorry. Wish me luck!!

What now? Oh I know, Tendonitis!

There's really not that much left to post anymore. School has just about started and skating is still my passion. It seems like everybody else always has cute ideas for a post. Me? Nothing.

Although I have a competition on the 29th, and I skate like 2 1/2 hours a day 5x a week, I still feel like I'm never going to be ready.

Oh! Here's something worth while; I have tendonitis in my left knee. It really stinks. I have to ice it every day, work my hip muscles every day and rolling pin my leg. Not only that, but some days it REALLYS HURTS. I've probably had it for months and only 2 weeks ago finally went to the doc. I made the mistake of not telling my mom until like 3 weeks ago. So far, I've gone through 2 knee braces, and none seem to work except this thing called Rock Tape. I kind of don't know what it does, but all I care about is if it helps or not. Have a wonderful day!!

Show biz

Last Friday was a very wonderful day. I was able to be on camera. Our next door neighbor is in the entertainment industry and my dad's best friend. He needed a couple actors for a movie/ video thing, so he asked my little brother Cody(he is 8 years old). They(the film crew) started out at the Harbor and filmed Cody fishing and hanging out with his actor family. It was easy to see who the director was since he was wearing a directors trademark, a short-sleeved black shirt with glasses hanging off it. He was also the one shouting out orders and whatnot. After about two hours of baking in the sun watching Cody act, we could finally go home.
Later that day, my older brother Cameron was supposed to also be on camera but he had to back to school. So I was recruited in his place to be an extra. My job was to play basketball in the background. I'm a figure skater, not a basketball player unlike the other extra who was Cameron's good friend. Whenever I made a basket it was a big deal to me. Of course they got out the big camera's and such so it was a neat experience. And I will be getting paid, no idea when, but someday. It was really neat being on film.

Cause I had a bad day

Sorry I haven't been blogging! I have my skates now, they are perfect except the breaking in process requires a bunch of blisters and band-aids.
Today has been so warm and not the greatest day. I saw a car crash happen right in front of me at an intersection. Everybody was fine but it really shook me up. A couple other personal things happened. And all of this really shook me up. Then at skating practice I was right in the middle of take-off for a difficult jump and all of a sudden, the skin peeled right off a blister making it impossible for me to skate. So my coach gave me a blister pad which required me to take off my 3 pairs of tights and putting a hole in my brand new ones. I was in tears. $20 does not grow on trees. Yes. Skating tights are expensive.  So after I got myself back together, I resumed my lesson only to fall 20 more times. Time and time again I fell on my butt on the same stupid double Salchow. After 3 run-throughs in my program with music, It was taking up all of my willpower not to burst out in tears. I went home after a unsuccessful practice. Oh the drama. Tomorrow I am helping out at our rinks competition that I will not be particapating cause there's not a level high enough for me to compete at. :(

New carpet!!

We got new carpet! It took many hours to unload the entire house besides the kitchen. Thankfully it was a beautiful day, with typicall SoCal weather.  After a very long couple of days, the carpet was in and and looking beautiful.   Before and after photos:

Joup!!!

Today is my mom's 5th day on a 'joup' diet. Joup is a word we made up for juice and soup. A joup diet is when you have lots of liquids preferably soup and juice. My mom has a juicer, so she juices anything she has (spinach, celery, cucumbers, carrots, kale, apples, and oranges.) I just finished drinking my carrots and orange only juice, a big step up from the spinach drink she made last week. Addition to our 'joup diet is running around 3 miles every other day and bike riding not to mention my 2 1/2-3 hours of ice skating almost every day. Its not like we have any weight to lose, we just want to be healthier. We will be on a 'joup diet' for only 2 weeks but yesterday my body was very tired and sore. So, we went bike riding instead. Today, we will be going swimming at my mom's friends house, and probably go running in the evening. Wish me luck!

The Good, The Bad, and the Even Better

Bad news: Moneys tight so I will not be doing the competition in August.
Good news: I will be doing a competition in Valencia late September.
Even Better news: My skates got shipped out from the the warehouse earlier this week, so I should be getting a call any day now.
Other news: I started my 10th grade Literature yesterday, and I will be studying Shakespeare. I know it sound weird that I'm already starting school, but I would like to graduate from school by Christmas next year. I'm really excited to learn about Romeo and Juliet.

Did you enjoy reading Shakespeares plays?

A Day off From Skating

Today is my day off from skating. I've been skating for 5 days straight, 2 hours a day plus I went running on Friday and Sunday. So, as you can imagine, I'm a little tired. I will be spending my one and only day off painting my toenails and just hanging out.
I have been working my program for a competition in Valencia in September. I will be skating to The Training from the movie Mirror Mirror. Have you seen it yet? I have not. Anyway, my program consists of an Axel, 2 double Salchows, a camel spin, a layback spin, one back spiral, and a back spiral called a Charlotte. In this element you skate backwards, bring your leg straight up like the splits then you bring the rest of your torso down to your skating leg. Its not as difficult as it sounds, okay, maybe a little.
Its so beautiful outside today. I woke up with the sun streaming in just like the movies. It was kind of cool. Its also going to be a warm day, just like every other day.

Have you seen Mirror Mirror?

I passed my test with duct tape on my skates

I passed my Preliminary test! Now I can focus on my jumps and spins, at least when I get my new skates.

We ordered my skates in around Feb. before the accident, and around May we called and asked if we could pick up my skates. The order had been lost. So, we had to drive back down to LA (my mom was not happy) to get fitted again. And that was in May; here and I am in July and I have to put duct tape around the ankles of my skates so they don't collapse on me!! Anyway, my coach is really upset that the skates haven't come in yet. I'm going to call on Tue. cause their closed on Mon. Grrr.

Anyway, I passed my test with flying colors. And my mom wants me to take the next test at the end of September. We'll see about that.

I'm back (again)

Sorry I've been away! I have been a little busy this week.
This week I have been hanging out with my friend Nikki. She my age and so much fun to be around.
This Saturday is my premlimanry test, so here is a video of my freeskate program that I will be skating.
Despite a couple mistakes due to people in the way, I skated a decent program.

Marbled Chocolate Meringues

Just yesterday, me and my cousin made some amazing 'Marbled Chocolate Meringues'. They only required 3 ingredients: melted chocolate, 4 egg whites, and 1 cup of sugar. I know this is not a cooking/baking blog, but I'm very proud of them.
This is how they were supposed to look:
And this is how they ended up looking. Even though they didn't look like the picture, they still tasted amazing! Crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside.

Family and skating

Once again I had a wonderful practice session at the rink. Today was the first time it was actually busy there since its summer. Earlier this week has been really nice, there were only a couple skaters here and there, but today was crowded.
Also on the subject of summer, my mom is watching my two cousins (14 & 16). They come over at 8:15 or 9:30 the morning and leave once their mom gets off work at around 4:30 or so. My cousins are very funny and are fun to be around.
My mom's cousin and his wife and daughter along with his mom (my great-aunt) were visiting yesterday from Sacramento area. Their daughter, I'll call her Kayla for her privacy, is 3 years old and a fun ball of energy. I happily spent some of my day watching the adorable toddler yesterday. Kayla had a blast shooting my brothers pistol Nerf guns, she was very good at aiming for a 3 year old.
This weeks weather has been very overcast and warm, kind of unusual for late spring. Maybe tomorrow will be beautiful and sunny for Fathers Day.

A Fantastic Practice Session

How was everybodys weekend? Mine was quite uneventful. Today's practice session was fantastic, I did my program a couple times and successfully landed many axels and 3 double salchows. I finally got up the courage to try some sit spins(I fell on my head during a sit spin) and I did much better then I had expected. During my lesson, my coach and I worked hard on the arm movements for program ( I am skating to I Do Believe In Fairies from Peter Pan). The whole program is choreographed except the for the arms. I will post a video of it as soon as my program is decent enough to show you. We are dumbing it down for my preliminary test in July. You need to have a program with a flip,(no, not the kind were you turn upside-down, sorry) a sit spin, a forward scratch spin to a backward scratch spin, a single jump-single jump combo. I have, of course, all those, an Axel and my single jump-single jump combo is a flip-toe loop. Tomorrow is my second lesson with my stroking coach and I'm quite excited.  :)

What a Beautiful Day!

Today is such a beautiful day. I woke up to birds chirping and the sun streaming through my window. Seeing I was awake, Lilly jumped up on my bed, begging to be pet.
Skating pratice yesterday was awesome! I landed many axels, and completed some really nice camel spins. I even went through my program three times! My program has 2 axels, 1 camel spin, and a long step squecence. Of course there are some other jumps, but those are simple single jumps. I can't wait to tell my coach tommorrow at my lesson, she will be so pleased.
The rest of my day is busy with a chiropracter appiontment in 45mins, and a babysitting job from 10:30-3:10. So, I'd better get going!

A Great Practice Session

Here are some videos of today's practice session. I finally got up the courage to try a camel spin, a double salchow, and an Axel. I landed the first couple Salchows, then the ones we got on video were just OK. The Camel spin is definitely not perfect, but hey, its a start. The Axel, I'm especially proud of, and I hope you will be too. My headaches have been great most of the day, I did feel like my head was going to throw up after 10 Camel spins but they went away quickly. I also had my first lesson with a stroking coach and I had a blast. He works me very hard and I'm proud to say did my best. Tomorrow is another early morning practice at the rink and I'm so looking forward to it.

Bad Dog!!

How did you wake up this morning? Did you wake up to birds chirping and the sun streaming through the window? I did not. I woke up to a gloomy morning and the neighboring dog howling for what seemed like hours. The darn dog howled for at least an hour I think, and it was not a small dog howl that was short and piercing, it was a big, long, husky howl that seemed to echo through the neighborhood. Anyway, I have a chiropractic appointment in 25 min. Apparently, the acupuncture wasn't helping enough so we decided to try this tactic. He ( the chiropractor) said that there were lumps, I guess, in my brain muscle so he stretched the muscle out and yesterday, it never hurt! One of my first headache free days!! I'd better go get ready, Bye!

Off To The Beach!!

On Tuesday, I went to the beach with my family and my dog. It wasn't quite warm enough to go swimming, so instead we just walked along the beach; occasionally dipping our feet in the water. The water was so beautiful and blue, and there was hardly any breeze, so the sand didn't get blown into our eyes. At times the sand was so hot that it scalded part of our feet, especially when we were walking back to the car It took a long time for Lilly (a golden retriever and cocker spaniel mix)to get used to the water. Well, sprinting was more like it. I was so hot!! It was like running on hot coals I imagine. And now back to the blue water, and crashing waves. As we were walking, three Labs of different colors came running after a ball, splashing in the waves. Lilly, of course, was thrilled to see so other dogs, but she was to scared to go in the water so she would just wait for the dogs at the waters edge and once we got to far from her she would forget the dogs and come running to us. She did very well at the beach; she never was aggressive torwards anyone or any dog, she would always come when she was called, and she stayed right next to most of the time. We walked for about an hour and then we came to some rocks. Some rocks had sea anemones covering them and others had muscles or limpets. We took a bunch of pictures, but it was on a big heavy duty camera so I'm trying to figure it out. I will post them very soon.

Why I love to homeschool

Now that my homeschooling year is coming to a close, I realized that next year I would be going to a public high school.(I'm will still be home schooled throughout my high school years, after all I'm already in 9th grade.) That thought made be appreciate how fortunate I am. I was in public school for kindergarten and first grade so I do know what I'm talking about.

-I have the opportunity to finish school early and go ice skating so I can work toward fulfilling my dream of qualifying for the Winter Olympics in 2018 or 2022.

-What if one day I graduate high school and move to a far off land and realize that I never really knew the person a couple doors down in the hallway? What if I didn’t know the person that I sat across from at the breakfeast table every day? What if I didn't know what made him laugh? What the name of his friends are? What if because I didn't know the person, I didn't care about him or what he did with his life? If I was in regular school I wouldn’t be able to know the answer to these questions are. I would have school from 8:00-3:00, then I would get home by 3:30, then I would still have homework for 2-3 hours a day, and then I still have to eat dinner, call a friend or two, get some exercise, and go to sports. Being homeschooled allows me to know my family inside and out. Being homeschooled also allows me to know the ‘person down the hallway’ what makes him laugh, what his dreams are and concerns are.

Homeschooling is a wonderful part of my life. I will be homeschooled all through my highschool years, and I will surely homeschool my children so that they can enjoy learning and pursue their dreams.

Mailman Sprays Pepperspray on Dog

Yesterday was awesome. I had an 1/2 hour lesson with my coach. We worked on footwork, jumps, and spins. I figured out after my lesson that I won't be able to spin for a while. A painful headache started to hi after my spins. So now, I have to say good-bye to my spinning to keep the headache from coming back. I have a lesson on Friday at 2:30, so I'm very excited.

Does your dog hate the mailman? Over the weekend, my sweet dog Lilly was hanging out in the front with my dad and his best friend. They were doing construction on the bathroom so the were cutting wood for the counter tops. And all of a sudden, Lilly tore across the street  like a bullet where the mailman was getting out of his truck, and loading his bag with mail. Lilly was seriously going to kill the guy if it wasn't for pepper spray. Yes. My dog got pepper-sprayed by the mailman. As my dad tells the story, he doesn't think that even the pepper-spray would have stopped her from biting his butt off. Afterwards, I had to go up to the mailman and apoligize, hoping that he wouldn't tell the city people.  How was yours?

First Lesson

Today was the last day of homeschooling classes! I'm so happy! I got an A in Biology!! It took so much studying, but it was so worth it. I am so proud of myself!!
After classes, I went skating-I love the sound of that. Anyways, I went ice skating and It felt so wonderful. I loved the feel of the cold and the skates on my feet. I warmed up everything but my jumps and spins. I did so many egdes and step sequences. Usaully I would have disliked every moment of the edges, but this time, I loved it! At 3:00 I had my lesson. We worked on spirals(I had a tough time with them cause my foot was not in alinment with the rest of my body). After we went through the elements of my prelimanary test, and my coach was suprised at how well I did. Then, with my mom's permission, we worked on my jumps and spins. I had a little trouble with the landing of some jumps due the breakdown of my boot(I have only had them for 4 months and they are already in awful shape so we are getting them replaced) Almost everytime I faltered, my coach blamed the boots, but I know that It was half my fault. As I went into my first spin, I had a terrible flashback of the fall and I scared me but I was determined to keep spining and not fall over. Unfortunatley, during most of the lesson, I had an awful headache. Probably due to the excitment, the nervousness, and the cold(the cold used to give me a headache when I first started skating. I have a really bad headache, so I am going to say good bye.

Mothers day

I said I blog about Mothers day so I will. I woke up early and made scones from the box and they turned to mush. I have no idea how in the world that happened. I also made chocolate croissants and that turned out delicious. I made them for my 8yr old brother since he could not use the oven. Yet my mom ate the scones that didn't turn to mush. She loves having breakfeast in bed (so does my daddy) What happened to the mush? Well instead of throwing it away, I put in into a small casserole dish and baked it and it turned out looking funny but just a couple minutes ago, my mom was snacking out of the casserole dish of mush! I gave my mommy a movie: 'Letters To Juliet' with Amanda Seyfried and Christopher Egan. It is a fantastic movie flimed in Verona, Italy. All in all, It was a very good mothers day.

Wind: N at 0 mph
Humidity: 80% 82° 50° 73° 50° 70° 52° 77° 54°
Tomorrow is the last day of homeschooling classes! I'm so happy.
Anyway, on my last post, I said that I would blog about my first day of skating. So here it goes.

On Saturday at around 11:45, I took my first step onto the ice. It was between public classes so there is a 30min break for the teachers. During that time, skaters that are enrolled in the skate school are allowed to skate. I was not enrolled but that day I was helping my coach with the toddlers. I steped on the ice very timidly. And as I started to skate, I realized that I did not need to hold onto the wall. So I took my hand off the the wall and started to skate. It felt completey natural; like I had never stoped skating. I began to glide across the ice, saying hello to my cold and friendly long lost friend. I felt like I was flying. I had so much fun going around and around in the oval. This friday is my second time skating and my first lesson since the accident. I'm getting really nervous. The 30min went by so fast. Soon it was time to help out with the kids. All I really do it hold their hand as the march to the wall and back. That was my first time skating. My mom took some pictures; I have to figure out how to upload them first. I will post them when I can. Today, I am going to run and pratice my jumps outside on the grass. If I get one that doesn't show my falling on my butt, I'll post them. Have a beautiful day

Sick

How was every ones Mothers Day? Good? Good. I won't say much today cause I have a cold. The whole shebang, runny nose, tired eyes, headaches(like I need anymore of them), yes everything but the cough. I'm sure I'll get that later. On my next blog, I will talk about Mothers Day, my first time on the ice, and a fitting in Anaheim. Stay tuned until I get better. Achoo!!

Can I Go Yet?

As you know, I have had headaches almost every single day since February when I fell and hit my head on the ice while skating.  Which resulted in a brain injury, I actually had some bleeding on my brain.  Since that horrible day, I have not been able to ice skate, run, jump, dance, etc. All of this inactivity has resulted an extra 11 Ibs on my body. So I hope to lose that very soon. But I have kept my leg muscles and flexibility in tact, because leg lifts and stretching is about the only thing I could do. Today at my neurologist app. in West Hills (about 1 hour away from home). I told him that my headaches are daily, yet much less severe. He said he wants to put me on some medication to get the headaches under control.  Then he said the sentence that would change my day, week, month, and maybe year. “Since, it’s been long enough for your brain to have healed, you can resume normal activity, but if your headaches get worse…. Stop." He said that ‘my brain should be fine, just ease into your normal activity’. I did especially ask about ice skating and he sad it’s a go. He also claimed that my headaches are now chronic, but I don’t believe that because the acupuncture is really starting to help. So my guess is that I will almost headache free in about 2 months. That is my goal. Since I can start skating and running again, I won’t have time for headaches. J

May I emphasis the 'You can resume normal activity" part? Isn't that like the best thing since sliced bread? I was overjoyed!! It took all I had not to laugh and scream out loud! I don't really care about the 'if your headaches get worse, Stop.' Okay, fine I do care. But I will pray and hope, and pray and hope some more that they will never get worse. He is going to put me on meds. but it is a very low dose. He just wants stop the headaches. :( I am a very anti-meds. person, but I need to get the headaches under control. I will be on the meds. for a min of 3 months. It usually takes 1 month for it to start working. Yes, WOW. That is a long time to start working. But, remember, 'You can resume normal activity'.  I did it!! Yippee!!  Yes, I will start off very slowly, so don't worry. Won't my coach be thrilled?!!!! I have a list of all the things I’m going to do. But, I think that’s enough for one day. TTYL!  J

Sleeping in on Monday

How was your weekend? Mine was very nice. I had Cinco De Mayo at All Things Yummy's house. We had delicious Margarita cookies and cupped tortillas. You cut the tortillas and put them in the oven in the muffin tins. Then you fill it with your favorite Mexican things like, black beans, homemade guacamole, etc. It was a very nice day.
And today, I got to sleep in till 8:30. I woke up at 7:44, but my mom told me to go back to sleep, so I did. And now, I'm sitting in bed in my PJ's blogging. I have the life. You may be jealous, but it is very dreary outside, 89% humidity and 59 degress. Enjoy the rest of your day, and I will enjoy the rest of my day here in Southern California. (thats sounds like a spokesperson LOL)

Almost fainted!

Today, I went to homeschooling classes. In the opening class (you could call homeroom), I started to overheat and get really dizzy. So, I put a cold water bottle to my head. That helped untill I went to my second class. About 15min into it, the same thing happened only worse. So I had to ask my teacher if I could leave the class and go get my mom. She completely understood and let me go. So I went upstairs where my mom was helping with the kindergardners and we went outsidde for a walk and I laid down. It finally went away after about half an hour and it hasn't come back again. Yay!! But don't get me wrong, It was very scary. So after lunch, I went up to my favorite class, Papercrafting and I made adorable cards for Mothers day and Fathers day.

Running?

Today is a very dreary and cold day. During the weekend, I had very painful headaches so I was extremely discouraged. Somebody told my mom that eating 5 slices of cucumber every night before bed is supposed to keep away the headaches for the rest of the day. So we'll see how that goes.
On Saturday was one of my worst headache days, so in the evening I decided to try to jostle my brain out of the habit of hurting, so I tried to run around the block. Turns out, unfortunately, I could hardly get half way around. Before the Accident, I was an amazing runner and I could do a 5k on a whim. So, I tried again on Sunday and I was so much better! I could have run around the entire block but I didn't want to over do it. When I started my school the next day at the kitchen table, I started feeling faint and hyperventilating. Now, I was doing nothing but writing the word: Ectothermic. Anyways, I almost fainted, I started to overheat (it was cold and cloudy outside), and my head started to hurt. I told my mom and I laid down on the couch, and tried to relax. After about what seemed like forever, It finally went away and I rested my eyes for about 10-15 min. Feeling faint like that hasn't happened for like 3 weeks. So I guess no more running for me. Now I have to stick to bike riding and walking. Its alright, but its definately not the same. If anybody has any cures for headaches (besides meds.) comment and let me know, it would be a fantastic help.

13 year old houseperson

I really don't know how you mothers do it. Cleaning, Laundry, Cooking, etc. Today since we are doing major work on the house, I was put in charge of keeping the house in as much order as it could be. My mom and older brother were painting the outside of the house, and my dad was tiling the bathroom and doing some plumbing. We had days worth of laundry backed up, so can you guess how was in charge of that? Me. Not only that, but the dryer isn't drying well, so I had to hang some clothes outside to dry. See?

I also BBQ chicken for dinner. I thought the raw chicken was slimy and gross, but the finished outcome was extremely delicious. My mom even said that it was the best chicken she's ever had. And that's the dryer beeping. Time for another load of laundry. I'm tired and my feet hurt like crazy!!

Today, is warm and sunny, the birds outside are chirping vigorously.
I decided that I will put together all of the funny pics of my pets in the last month or so. What do you think?

Amazing Clouds In California

Yesterday, the humidity went away at around 5:00ish. So I decided to walk out in my backyard since it was starting to rain. I looked up, and this is what I saw:

Aren't those clouds spectacular? I was completely amazed. Oh, and yesterday, I had my first completely, totally headache free day!!!!

Very Humid Day in California

So far, I'm having a headache free day. I had another skating dream last night. Not a day goes by that I don't think about the cold ice. Especially today since is an extremely humid 76 degrees. Although I was born and raised in Southern California, its usually not this warm in late-April. My brother came home early today from collagen (yes, he is only 16), so it is very nice to have him around the house even if he is only painting the trim around the house. Tomorrow, I'm babysitting a little boy says he's 16, but I think he's only 4 or 5. LOL
My dad and brother came back from Utah monday night. And they fell in love with it there. We hope to put the house on the market in 2-4 weeks. Yes that soon, I don't think I'm ready to leave either. My mom is getting a little cranky cause of all the phone calls and plans we have to make. I'd better go and finish my school. Bye!

Gloomy day in Southern California

It has been a very gloomy day once again. My school today was very easy and comfy. I did my Biology yesterday so I could have today off. Yay! I just got my Biology test grades back!! I got a solid A. Ever since I got clunked on the head, my grades have been much better. For my Bio. tests, I do the test on the computer at http://www.classmarker.com/, then my teacher grades it when she has the chance. The teachers are other home school moms from the classes that I go to every other Friday. The moms get to pick the classes they want to help out in for 2 periods and then they the third period off. So my mom helps out with Kindergarten in 1st and 3rd period and she gets 2nd period off which is right before lunch. Where do we do these classes? We do them at a large church with a bunch of classrooms so have enough room. Every year we have about couple hundred kids ranging from newborns all the way through high school. There are so many classes to choose from like: Biology, Chemistry, General and Physical Science, Knitting, Papercrafting, Art, Watercolors,Acrylics, History, California History, PE, Automotive basics, Cake decorating, Literature, and so much more. Have a good rest of your day!

Yes, that is me. Don't I look so happy doing my Algebra? :)
That is not rain clouds, its gloomy, depressing fog. (sigh)

On a walk

Not much went on today, except that I went on a walk with mom and little brother. It has been chilly and gloomy the whole day, very unusual for a mid-April day. But the mocking birds, doves, and crows didn't seem to mind.
Almost a headache free day! Yesterday, I had awful headaches. I was so frustrated. :(
My mom said on Saturday I will be able to help out with the little kids in Skating School!!! I'm really excited, although I will have to go on the ice before then to gain my balance. But I don't mind at all, the more and sooner I skate, the better.
Tonight is a cuddle night with my mom. We get to sit down on the couch and watch TV together. I'm very excited. Lately, we have been watching Melissa and Joey with Melissa something and Joey Lawrence. Well, its time to put on my PJs for cuddle night with mommy. Nighty Night.

A clean room

Since I figured out how to upload pictures, I'm obsessed with my camera and blogging(again).
Heres a couple pictures of my room with the new rug and curtains.

Don't you wish every 13 year old girl or every female's room was as clean and pretty?
Thats everything for this morning. Have a wonderful day and I will enjoy the rest of my headache free day.

Day #2

Today is the second day of no headaches!!!!!!!  You have no idea how happy I am.  I found a tactic: Saying no to the headaches. Telling them that they have to go. And it works!! I knew it would work by telling yourself that you are healed. My brain just needed some encouragement!!!

Here are some crafts that I made at a homeschooling class I went to. (I finally figured out how to upload pictures! Horray) Enjoy these and I will enjoy the rest of my headache free day.

These flowers are felt magnets. I absolutely adore them.

Headaches, Redecorating, and School Oh My!!

Unfortunately, It seems like my headaches are getting worse. Yesterday, my headaches were awful in the morning and OK in the evening. Today, I've had a small, yet annoying headache the whole day. I still have not had a headache free day:( All right, enough about my aches and pains.
I have almost finished redecorating my room. On Monday we went to Target, and I bought a big fur rug and white cotton curtains.(my cat destroyed my other ones) All that's left to do is to buy a new comforter. Any ideas?
Today is a bright and sunny 64 degrees. My plan is to get my school done at around 1:00. Which reminds me I have to go finish my Algebra. Bye!

Malibu

Happy belated Easter to you all!!  The other day, my big brother turned 16.  I wish him the best and maybe one day he will want to get a car.(he takes the bus to colleage because he doesn't want a car)
I'm so proud of my brother and all you have accomplished. He graduated high school at age 14 and started colleage at 15, homeschooling really work.
This week, my aunt and uncle came down from Sacramento to visit. My uncle had never seen Malibu, so my mom took them to see the biggest attraction, the big blue ocean. My mom said that she has never seen it so blue and clean, even though she has lived here most of her life.(she was born in Hawaii where her dad was stationed, he was in the military.)
Yesterday, was my best headache day since the accident. My headache started at 4:00 PM and ended at around 5:00. Usually, they start at noon and end at around 8:00. But the headaches are on and off. Maybe today will be my first day without headaches.

Cakes

Yesterday, I babysat a cute little boy named Gabe. He was the sweetest little boy I had ever watched. He hung out with me from about 8:30 - 4:00. He has Cerebral Palsy, so It was real blessing to his mother.
Today, my mom and I are going to make a chocolate cake. Shes finally going teach me how to make a cake that doesn't fall apart at the sides. Its going to be a 4 layer cake. We are going to make a wonderful cake, and everybody will go 'Ohhhh'. Well, I smell something yummy. Gotta go!

Busy Busy Bee

Today was quite a busy day. I babysat a little boy named JJ from 10:00-2:15. And then around 2:45 a good friend of mine came over and hung out with me.

Yesterday, my mom and older brother painted my door and baseboards. So unfortunately, I had to move everything out from the wall and into the middle of the room. My room was a mess!! Books were everywhere and my toys were heaped on to my bed making a 3' high mountain. Since my room, and my brothers room still smelled like paint, we had to camp out on the living floor. Because the bathroom is still being remolded theres debris. My mom is also allergic to dust so Saturday they had to drag their mattress out into the living room as well. So last night, It like was a big slumber party with 5 people sleeping in the living room, not including Lilly and the 2 cats.
Also yesterday evening, family came over to celebrate. Its birthday time! My cousin & brother are both turning 16. They are only 2 weeks excatly apart from each other! Because my mom was busy painting, it was my job to bake the birthday cake. It was my first time baking a cake and I had no one really to help me. I finshed baking the cake and lookin good. But then it was time to frost. The white frosting ended up looking like iceing, then there wasn't enough frosting, then the cake itself started falling apart, then the cakes where falling so it was slightly lopsided, then on top of that, cakes didn't cool long enough so the frosting was slipping off. I was so upset. I wanted to be the proud baker of a beautiful cake, not a lopsided donut!! When my mom saw the cake, she laughed, and said that we have all been there. So later that day, when it was time to bring out the cake- I'm sorry, the oversized donut, I was very embaressed and explained to everyone what had happened. Being the sweet family that they are, they told me it was okay and that they had done the same thing. In the end, the donut turned out to be delicous as well as the Chinese food that we ordered.
What are your cake horror stories?

Duty Calls

Yesterday my dad and my uncle worked all day in the 40 yr old master bathroom, tearing apart walls, rewiring electrical.  Also, my mom painted my brothers room a pale blue. Today, she is going to maybe paint my room, but shes for sure going to put molding around the window, paint the door, and baseboards. Who cooked and cleaned? My Aunt (All Things Yummy Blog) and I cooked, cleaned, and organized the kitchen. For dinner, she made bagels and Cream cheese, smoked Salmon, and Frittaa. Once all was said and done, we sat down in the living room and rested our feet to watch Mr. and Mrs. Smith with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Fantastic movie!!
Today the work continues, and my job is to keep things clean and organize my brothers room. Ugh!!
Duty calls.

Redecorating

With my free time today, I was able to do a little redecorating. So, I moved a tall, black bookshelf out of my room. My color scheme is pink and white so the black didn't really go. Now I have plenty of space for my stuffed animals, and my other smaller bookcase. ( I love to read) My little brother, mom, and I all went to a decorating store to look for pillowcases and to find some new sheets. I'm working on completely redoing my room. Check out what I want it to look like at http://www.pbteen.com/shop/teen-rooms/girls-bedroom-furniture/ruffle-bedroom/. So far, I'm going to buy the duvet cover, curtains, and possibly the ruffle rings pillow case. My mom won't let me spend too much money since I'm paying for it, so I am going to make my own ruffle rings lamp shade. I can't wait untill I really get to get started.

Still Recovering

I haven't been up to much. The doctor says that I can't do anything that will move my brain(dancing, skating, running, brisk walking, etc.) untill I have no headaches or twinges of headaches for 2 weeks straight. For me, that's torture. As of today, I can't even get through one day without headaches. But it gives me the time to work on my flexibility, and do some weights. So far, my flexibility has improved by a great deal. I can do the splits with the right and left leg and I'm very close to doing the middle splits.
This morning, I woke up to a very gloomy morning for Southern California, so I decided to stay in bed and read one of my favorite books 'Angels at Christmas' by Debbie Macomber. I highly recommend it.
Right now, its 11:45 AM, and I'm sitting at my desk with my dog, Lilly sleeping on my bed. Lilly is a Golden Retriever, Cocker Spaniel mix and the sweetest dog. Sometimes, she will jump up on my bed in the morning and snuggle with me with her head on my pillow! At times, I have even found her inside the covers like a real person.
What's your favorite breed of dog? I'd love to hear from you!

Why You Should Have Fun in the Sun
When was the last time you spent quality time outdoors? When was the last time you sat outside, listened to the birds sing, and stopped to smell the roses? Did you know that spending time in the sun will help you sleep better, it will warm you up, and make you happier? It actually can do all those things and more! Of course, I won’t go into all the details, but I’m going to just skim the surface. So please, step out into the warm sunshine, so you can experience the effects of it as I walk you through.
The sun produces Serotonin in your body which also releases hormones in your body that actually help you sleep better.  So, just being in the sunshine for 15 minutes or more, will increase you chance of falling asleep faster and staying asleep. So when you wake up in the morning you will feel refreshed and ready to take on the day. Next, the sun can warm you up even on the coolest days. Yes, I know that you know the sun can keep you warm, but have you really thought about and tried it for yourself? I mean who doesn’t want to be in the warm sunshine in the middle of the day? Yes, it may take awhile to warm up, but once you’re warm, nothing can compare. The sun, warm and inviting, can keep you happy and cheerful with the variety up colorful flowers it keeps alive around you, so I move on to my next point. The sun gives off energy to the living things around you like; cherry trees flowering, tulips in bloom, hummingbirds sipping the nectar off a nearby honeysuckle. Now, if you were inside, you would be missing out in all of the beauty around you. You would be completely unaware that a whole life goes on right outside your door. So smell the roses the next time you’re out shopping, and if you smell the right ones, I can guarantee that you will be a much happier person.
You see, there are many reasons why you should have fun in the sun such as the sun can make you happier, it will help you sleep better and it will warm you up. Next time you wake up to a warm sunshine, remember all that the sun does for you and enjoy it.

The Accident

February 22 2012, my mom and dads 20th anniversary. It was 15min before my skating lesson, and I was practicing my sit spins or a flying sit. I accidentally slipped off the back of my blade and fell on the side of my head. Everything went black if only for a few seconds, the next thing I knew somebody was picking me off the ice and almost everything was black except for a couple colors. Being that I could hardly see, I almost slammed into a wall. Somebody helped me sit down so I could try to regain sight. One of the skaters moms offered to call my mom, but I told her I could do it. After I phoned my mom so she could come and get me, my coach came over asked me how I was. I told her what happened, and she offered to call the ambulance since I still wasn't seeing right. My eyes felt like a kaleidoscope, I kept seeing all of these colors. After about 10 minutes of sitting in the cold with a throbbing headache, my mom finally came. Mom and I rushed to the nearest hospital in Oxnard, but they were very busy so she took me to the Camarillo St. Johns Hospital where it wasn't full and the wait was only about 15 min. Now, 15 minutes to me felt like 15 hours since my head hurt, I was feeling nauseated and my balance was off as well as my eyesight. Finally, they called me back to do some tests, like what were my symptoms, blood pressure, height, weight, and stuff? After that was done, I had to wait about and hour or two until the could give me a CT scan. After the CT scan we had to wait another hour or so for the results. Until then, my eyesight was getting better but my head still hurt like crazy. Since all the rooms were full, I had to sit in an exam room where they had to roll in a bed so I could lay down.
Then the results came. I had a 3mm bleeding on the left side of my brain. I fell on the right side, so I had to have hit the ice pretty hard to be able to make my brain bleed. Anyway, the doctor wanted me to stay overnight at a hospital with a neurosurgeon that could monitor me throughout the night. Turns out they had to transport me to a hospital with the equipment and the doctors. They would have kept me there, but every hospital in the area was full, UCLA, Northridge, and everything other hospital was completely full. so after about an hour of making phone calls, the nurse finally told us that there was a room open at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara. I was transported by ambulance with this really nice paramedic named Adrian. She was very kind and sweet. By the time we got there it was about 12:00 in the night(or is it morning?)and they put an IV in my arm so they could put anti-seizure medicine so I wouldn't have a seizure (obviously). Once I got into the room, they hooked me up to all of the monitors and told me that every hour they would have to wake me up and ask me questions. I only remember being woken up about 2 times. On Thursday morning they finally gave me the go to go ahead and order food from the menu, so I ordered some yummy french toast and orange juice. Before they could discharge me, a physical therapist, an occupational therapist and speech therapist had to come in the room to test me like talking, answering questions, and walking around. After I passed all the tests, the nurse came in with three toys, an Elmo with a magnet pen, a 50th anniversary Barbie and a little Einsteins doll. He told me to pick two toys, so I picked the Elmo,(for pastime) and the Barbie.
I was finally discharged at around 3:30pm, and we drove all the way back home. But it was a very nice drive since it was on the coast. We stopped at a little town named Summerland to get some fresh air and to walk around. The ocean air felt so good on my weary face. After about 10 minutes, we got back into the car and drove all the way home. I was very tired for the next few days, but on Monday, I was able to visit the rink for a couple minutes. Everybody was so concerned, it was so sweet. My coach came up and gave me a get well card and some balloons tied to a hockey puck. On the way home I opened the card and I was 6 pages long filled with sweet notes and signatures. I started to cry, I had no idea so many people cared about me.
Some of my other friends came and visited me at home too. I love my friends so much.
Over the past 3 weeks, although I have been feeling much better, I still can't jump around or dance (trust me I tried it and I ended up with a massive headache for the next 3 days) or do anything that raises my blood pressure to much. Last night I had an emotional breakdown. I was so done with not being able to do anything, done with having headaches, and done with staying at home all day. But this morning I'm feeling much better. I'm ready to begin a new day and live again.

Funny Disneyland Story

Hello again. I passed my pre-preliminary moves and free skate. I will be competing at the end of March in San Diego at La Grande.
I did finish and run the 5K through Disneyland. I had a blast! They had characters lined up on the sidelines for you to take pictures. The next day you get a twilight ticket into Disneyland. Here is a funny story about when we were on the Astro Orbiters in Tomorrow Land. My brother got his own rocket (he is 15) and my mom and me got into another. She had to be in front since I am a little bit taller than her, but not much. As soon as the ride started, my mom started screaming at the top of her lungs: "I WANT TO GO HOME"! Now this ride is just like the Dumbo one, only a little bit faster. We never even got to the top, since my mom had the controls. Of course, I wanted to be as high as possible, so I fought for the controls. Unfortunately, I never got them. She was screaming so loud that the people above us were laughing their heads off! You could hear them! Now the rockets are her absolute least favorite ride in Disneyland. However, since it was so busy, we only went on two rides: Thunder Mountain, and the despised rockets.
Yesterday we baked Sugar Cookies for Valentines Day. It was wonderful to have the family frost the cookies together.
